- Otherwise healthy men or women with a BMI (body mass index) of more than 30
- People who want to improve the results from an existing diet and exercise weight loss program
Who Shouldn't Take Tenuate
If you are breastfeeding, pregnant, or thinking about becoming pregnant, talk to your doctor before starting to take Tenuate. Its safety in pregnant women and infants has not been tested.
Children younger than age 16 should not take Tenuate.
If you have any of the diseases listed below, talk with a doctor before taking Tenuate.

- diabetes
- high blood pressure
- depression or anxiety
- seizure disorders or epilepsy
- arteriosclerosis, also known as hardening of the arteries
- hyperthyroidism, also known as an overactive thyroid gland
- glaucoma
- history of drug abuse
